How to check Saudi eVisa eligibility, step by step
In short
Pick your nationality in our free checker and the answer appears straight away, with no account. If your nationality is not on the official list, two more questions (your situation and your country of residence) show whether your residence opens the eVisa to you. If not, the route for Umrah is the Umrah visa. The official portal has the final say when you apply.

What to have to hand
The checker asks for no account, no email and no passport number. You only need three facts about each traveller: the nationality shown in the passport, the country they live in, and whether they hold a particular permit or visa.
- The passport, to read the exact nationality and the expiry date.
- The residence permit or resident card, if the traveller lives outside their own country.
- Where relevant, the US, UK or Schengen visa, with the page bearing the entry stamp.
Using the checker, step by step
Open the checker
Go to the eligibility checker. It is free and works without signing up, on a phone or a computer.
Choose the nationality
In the "Your nationality" field, choose the one in the passport you will travel on. Dual nationals choose the passport they will show on arrival: the visa is tied to that passport.
Read the "Online eVisa" card
The result appears at once. "Eligible" means your nationality is on the official list. "Not by nationality" means it is not, and two further questions then appear.
Give your situation
Under "Your situation", tick one of four boxes: resident of a Gulf country, permanent resident (European Union, United Kingdom, United States), US, UK or Schengen visa already used, or none of these.
Choose your country of residence
Under "Country of residence", choose the country where you live. It matters for the first two situations: a French residence permit, for example, does not open the Gulf route.
Read the "eVisa through residence" card
"Possible" names the document to provide: a Gulf residence permit valid for at least 3 months after arrival, a permanent resident card, or the used visa with its entry stamp. "Not through residence" closes this route.
Read the "Umrah visa" card
"Not needed" means the eVisa is enough for Umrah. "To request" means no route to the eVisa applies and the Umrah visa is the answer. A "Request an Umrah visa" button takes you there.
Check the source and its date
Each result cites its official source. Further down, the "Rules applied" section gives the version of the list and the date our team checked it.
Repeat for each traveller
In a family or a group, nationalities and situations often differ. Run the check for every passport before you book anything.
Reading the three results
| What you see | What it means | Route for Umrah |
|---|---|---|
| Online eVisa: Eligible | Your nationality is on the official list | Tourist eVisa, then a Nusuk permit |
| eVisa through residence: Possible | Your residence or a used visa opens the eVisa, with a document to provide | Tourist eVisa, then a Nusuk permit |
| eVisa through residence: Not through residence | None of the three routes fits your case | Umrah visa |
| Umrah visa: Not needed | The tourist eVisa, by nationality or residence, is enough | Tourist eVisa, then a Nusuk permit |
| Umrah visa: To request | Neither nationality nor residence opens the eVisa | Umrah visa, with a compulsory package |
These results follow the published rules: the official portal's list and the three routes through residence announced in 2023, still described by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs platform in October 2026. Our guide to the eVisa through residence covers each route and its sources.
What to do with the result
Eligible for the eVisa, by nationality or residence
You can apply for the tourist eVisa. Get a compliant photo ready (see preparing the visa photo), then follow our tutorial on applying for the eVisa step by step. If you qualify through residence, keep the document to hand: it is requested with the application.
No route to the eVisa
Umrah is still possible with an Umrah visa. According to the FAQ of the Saudi ministry in charge of Umrah, it is obtained through an approved platform such as Nusuk or through the external agent in your country, with a compulsory accommodation and transport package. The official fees and the package are shown before you pay. Our guide to the eVisa or the Umrah visa compares both routes.
Common mistakes
- Choosing the country of birth instead of the nationality in the passport.
- Assuming an unused Schengen visa is enough: the entry stamp is required.
- Forgetting the validity of a Gulf residence permit, which must cover at least 3 months after arrival.
- Checking one family member and booking for everyone.
- Treating the result as an approval: the decision belongs to the Saudi authorities.
What myumrahvisa does for you
Once the route is clear, we file the eVisa application on behalf of individual travellers and agencies: you send the passport and, where needed, the residence document, which our team checks before any payment. If no route is open, we tell you plainly.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I can apply for the Saudi eVisa?
Pick your nationality in the eligibility checker. If it is one of the 68 countries on the official list, you can apply online. If not, answer the two questions about residence.
My nationality is not eligible: is there another way?
Often, yes. Living in a Gulf country, being a permanent resident of the European Union, the United Kingdom or the United States, or holding a US, UK or Schengen visa you have already used opens the eVisa. Otherwise, Umrah is done with an Umrah visa.
Is an unused Schengen visa enough?
No. The visa must have been used at least once to enter the country that issued it, and the entry stamp is the proof.
Does the checker's result mean my visa is approved?
No. It shows the route open to you under the published rules, with the date they were checked. Approval rests with the Saudi authorities, who can refuse even an eligible application.
My passport expires in five months: can I apply?
The official portal's terms require at least 6 months of validity on the date you enter the Kingdom. Renew your passport first.
Do I need an Umrah visa if I get the eVisa?
No. The tourist eVisa allows Umrah outside the seasonal closure period, with a permit booked afterwards in the Nusuk app.
