How to apply for the Saudi eVisa step by step, from the account to the visa in your inbox
In short
The tourist eVisa is applied for on the official portal in three stages: fill in the form, pay, receive the visa by email. You need an account activated by email, a passport valid for at least 6 months on entry, a compliant photo and a bank card. The official processing time ranges from one minute to three working days.
Private service, not affiliated with the Saudi authorities.
What to prepare
First check that the traveller qualifies for the eVisa, by nationality or residence: our tutorial on how to check eligibility takes a minute. Then gather everything before opening the portal, because the session closes after a few minutes of inactivity.
- Each traveller's passport.
- A 200 x 200 pixel photo on a white background (see preparing the photo).
- An email address you check and a mobile number.
- Your planned arrival and departure dates, and the address where you will stay.
- A bank card.
- If you qualify through residence: the residence permit, the resident card or the used visa with its entry stamp.
Filling in the application, step by step
The screens below are those our team recorded on visa.visitsaudi.com between July and November 2026. The portal can change: follow what it shows.
Open the official portal
Type the address visa.visitsaudi.com yourself. The portal sets out three stages: fill in the application, pay the fee, receive the visa. Be wary of sites that copy its look.
Create the account
Choose the passport type and nationality, then enter first name, surname, mobile with country code, email typed twice, a security question and its answer, and a password of at least 8 characters. Copy the code shown in the image and accept the privacy policy.
Activate the account
An email from noreply@visitsaudi.com contains an activation link, valid for 24 hours. Click it, then go back to the sign-in page.
Enter your email, password and the code shown in the image. A second, 5-digit code arrives by email: it stays valid for 5 minutes.
Start the application
Start a new application and give the group a name. One account can group several travellers; for a child, enter the accompanying parent first.
Enter personal details
Names in Latin letters as they appear in the passport, sex, marital status, date, city and country of birth, nationality, religion, profession, home address, mobile and email. Add the photo at this step.
Enter passport and trip details
Passport type and number, issue and expiry dates, place of issue. Also give your planned arrival and departure dates, the point of entry and your accommodation.
Choose the insurance
Pick an insurer from the list. Medical insurance is compulsory. According to the ministry's platform, the insurers offered are approved in Saudi Arabia and the cover is for emergencies only.
Accept the terms
Read the eVisa terms and accept them. They point out that an eVisa does not guarantee entry: that decision rests with the immigration officer at the border.
Review the summary
The review page shows everything you entered. It is your last chance to correct it: a submitted application cannot be cancelled.
Pay
Payment is by bank card. According to the ministry's platform, as of 29 October 2026, it covers the visa fee ($80), the digital services fee ($10.5) and medical insurance ($10.5). The total is shown before you pay.
Receive the visa
Once approved, the eVisa arrives as an email attachment, sent to the account's address in our experience. The official processing time ranges from one minute to three working days.
Common input errors
Most avoidable refusals come from entries that do not match the passport. Keep the passport open beside you and copy the machine-readable lines at the bottom of the photo page rather than the name you usually go by.
| Field | Common error | Good practice |
|---|---|---|
| Names | First name and surname swapped, accents, married name | Copy the exact spelling in the passport |
| Father's name | Left blank or merged with the first name | Enter it on its own, if requested |
| Passport number | Letter O instead of zero, I instead of 1 | Compare character by character |
| Dates | Day and month swapped | Check the format the field displays |
| Expiry | Passport valid for less than 6 months on entry | Renew before applying |
| Typing error | An address you read, typed twice |
After you receive the visa
- Check the visa: name, passport number, nationality and date of birth must be correct.
- Check the stated duration. According to the ministry's platform, a single-entry visa is valid for 90 days with a 90-day stay, and a multiple-entry visa is valid for one year, with no more than 90 days per stay.
- Print it. The portal's terms ask you to carry a copy on your first arrival, with the same passport used for the application.
- Expect fingerprints and a photo to be taken on arrival: this is compulsory.
For Umrah, two steps remain. Create your visitor account in the Nusuk app with your visa number (see creating a Nusuk account), then book your time slot (see the Umrah permit in Nusuk). Also get the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before arrival: our guide to Umrah with the tourist eVisa covers the requirements.
What myumrahvisa does for you
If you would rather not fill in these screens, we file the application for you, for individual travellers and agencies alike. You send the passports, we review each file and the photo before submission, then deliver the visas. The decision remains with the Saudi authorities.
