Preparing your Umrah
How to book an Umrah permit in the Nusuk app, step by step
In short
The Umrah permit is booked in the official Nusuk app (or Tawakkalna) once you have your visa. You create a visitor account with your visa and passport numbers, confirm the verification code sent by SMS, then pick a date and time slot and add the people travelling with you. Only one permit can be active at a time: to change your time, you cancel before the booked slot and book a new one.
Private service, not affiliated with the Saudi authorities.
Before you start
Your visa gets you into Saudi Arabia; the permit gives you access to the Haram for Umrah, at a precise date and time. It is booked in the official Nusuk app, or in Tawakkalna according to the FAQ of the Saudi ministry in charge of Umrah.
Have four things ready: your visa (tourist eVisa or Umrah visa), your passport, a mobile number that can receive text messages and an email address. If you are travelling with others, keep their passports and visas to hand as well.
Permits are not issued all year round. During the seasonal closure period, Nusuk suspends them for everyone: in 2026, from 18 April to 31 May. Our Umrah season 1448 calendar lists the known dates.
How to book, step by step
Download the official Nusuk app
From your phone's app store. Make sure it is the official app before you enter any personal details.
Create a visitor account
Enter the visa number (it appears on the eVisa and on the Umrah visa alike), your passport number, date of birth, nationality, mobile number and email address.
Confirm the verification code
A code is sent by SMS to the number you gave. Enter it to activate the account.
Choose "Issue Umrah permit"
According to Gulf News (2025) and the HalalBooking guide, the option sits in the Services menu; its label may vary with the version of the app.
Pick the date and time slot
The calendar shows the slots available: green for the quietest, red for the busiest. Slots open several weeks in advance.
Add your companions
Name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, relationship and sex. Each companion must hold their own valid visa.
Check, confirm and keep the permit
Read through the date, the time and the list of people, then confirm. Keep the permit on your phone so you can show it at the entrance.
Changing or cancelling a permit
The official FAQ is clear: you cannot change the time of a permit. If your plans change, cancel the permit in Nusuk before the booked time, then book a new slot.
Only one permit can be active at a time. For a second Umrah, you book again once the previous permit has expired. The FAQ adds that there is no set number of times you may perform Umrah.
Children
According to the HalalBooking guide, a child aged 5 or over needs their own permit, added as a companion. For a child under 5, a permit may not be required, but the rule varies from season to season. Elsewhere, however, the same guide says that children under 12 may not need a separate permit, while advising you to add them anyway: the two thresholds contradict each other.
The same FAQ states that children are allowed in the courtyards of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque. Our guide to Umrah with children also covers visas for minors.
The Rawdah permit, a separate booking
Praying in the Rawdah, inside the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, also requires a permit, separate from the Umrah permit. It is booked on its own in the app.
| Umrah permit | Rawdah permit | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | Performing Umrah at the Haram in Makkah | Praying in the Rawdah in Madinah |
| Mandatory | Yes, whatever your visa | Yes, according to the official FAQ |
| Where to book | Nusuk or Tawakkalna app | Nusuk app, separate booking |
| How often | One active permit at a time, no set number of Umrahs | 30 days between two visits according to the official FAQ; visit can be repeated with the "Immediate Path" service when close to the Prophet's Mosque (January 2025) |
| Changing the time | Cancel before the booked time and book again | Conditions to check in the app |
Tawakkalna, the other app
The official FAQ names Tawakkalna as a second app for booking the Umrah permit. It can serve as a fallback if you have trouble with Nusuk, and the same rules apply: one active permit at a time, cancellation before the booked time.
Common problems
- Visa number rejected: check every digit and copy the number printed on the visa itself.
- Details that do not match: enter names, date of birth and passport number exactly as they appear on the passport and the visa.
- Verification code not received: check the mobile number you entered and make sure your line receives text messages abroad.
- Slot fully booked: try another time or another day; green slots are the quietest.
- Companion cannot be added: each person must hold their own valid visa.
What myumrahvisa does for you
We apply for the tourist eVisa on behalf of individual travellers and travel agencies: every file is reviewed by a person, the application is entered on the official portal and the visas are handed to you. With the visa number we give you, you then book your permit in Nusuk. Our guide to Umrah on the tourist eVisa covers the other conditions of the trip.

Not directly. According to the official FAQ, you cancel the permit in Nusuk before the booked time, then book a new one.
How many times can I perform Umrah?

Do I have to pay for the Umrah permit?
According to one travel guide (HalalBooking), booking the Umrah permit was free in 2026. Check in the app when you book.
Can a woman book a permit without a mahram?
